Cocoa House

FSK's Cocoa House was held on April 3, 2009.  This annual celebration of National Media Center Month is a cooperative effort of many members of the community.   Every year on an evening in early April FSK media center opens its doors to the youngsters from our local elementary schools for an evening of reading and active fun!

This year our elementary school friends and their families dodged the raindrops to come to the festival.  We hosted 80 guests who followed the trail of Hershey kisses from the door to the center. There they found several storytellers holding court including our own Principal Seaman sharing favorite tales and Elmer Wolf Media Specialist, Ms Praet, leading an interactive reader’s theatre with audience members playing the animals.

Two seniors Jillian C. and Brandon F. coordinated all the talent and activities for this event as a capstone project.  A number of FSK students from various clubs sponsored activities such as face painting, storytelling theatre, costumed characters, and an enchanted forest with live music, campfire singing and marshmallows. A big hit of the evening was the balloon animals presented by Mrs. Starkey an alumni Mom. Many chocolate treats and drinks rounded out the delightful evening.

Much reading enjoyment and fun was had by all!
