Mary Swack - Principal

Ms. Swack completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at Towson University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Masters degree in Administration.  A longtime resident of Carroll County, Ms. Swack has worked at Oklahoma Road, Shiloh, West, and East Middle Schools, and was appointed Principal of East Middle School in 2008.  She resides in Hampstead with her husband, Phil, and children David, Steven, and Brianna.  Contact her at meswack@k12.carr.org

 

 

 

 

Philip Popielski - Assistant Principal

Mr. Popielski has been in education for twenty years, and he is in his fifth year in Carroll county as an assistant principal. Mr. Popielski is a former History teacher who worked in Calvert County, Anne Arundel County, and McDaniel College before moving to Carroll County.
Mr. Popielski is a Clarion University graduate and received his masters from Bowie State University. He has been an assistant principal since 2000.
Mr. Popielski is very active in the Westminster community, he is a member of the recreation council, coaches, his sons and daughter in soccer, football, and baseball. He has also served as an assistant coach at McDaniel College for the past nine seasons for the highly successful women's basketball program.


He currently resides in Westminster with his wife, Stephanie, and their four children, Cassie, Michael, Sydney, and Joshua.  Contact him at pdpopie@k12.carr.org

 

Chris Roemer - Assistant Principal

Mr. Roemer did his undergraduate work at Gettysburg College, receiving a BA in History. He received his Masters from McDaniel College. Mr. Roemer was a sixth-grade Social Studies teacher at East Middle School before joining the administrative team at Oklahoma Road Middle School in Eldersburg, Md. in 2005. He returned to East Middle School as an Assistant Principal in the summer of 2007. In addition to his other responsibilities, Mr. Roemer currently oversees the county's BEST program which is housed at East Middle School.

Mr. Roemer is a longtime resident of Carroll County, currently living in Finksburg. Both he and his wife, Kelly, graduated from Francis Scott Key High School. They have two children, Carly and Paul.  Contact him at ceroeme@k12.carr.org
