Impact Club
Mission/Vision of IMPACT is to encourage students to make a positive impact on the students and faculty of East Middle School and our community while fostering the growth of positive character traits to become resourceful citizens of our community. Contact Ms. Weinberg for more information.
IMPACT meets every Friday Morning during Advisory and includes: 27 Sixth Graders, 25 Seventh Graders, and 20 Eighth Graders.
IMPACT is comprised of the following sub-committees, with the Student Government presiding over each committee.
| DANCE | Plans, decorates, prepares, and helps with selling food for dances |
| ADVERTISING | Writes and reads school announcements informing students about upcoming events as well as makes posters of the upcoming events |
| FUNDRAISING | Brainstorms and plans the activities for raising funds for the IMPACT committee |
|
SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT |
Brainstorms and listens to student feedback on how to make East Middle School a better school for students and staff. Once an idea is given, students present the idea to Mrs. Swack for approval and then present the idea to the faculty. One of the things we have done so far is to make up a student newspaper. |
|
CHARACTER EDUCATION |
These students help with various activities that center around our Monthly Character Traits. They help with drawing, cutting, etc. to help minimize the work for teachers. These students also come up with community projects that East can be involved with. |
| WELCOMING | These students welcome new students that come into East Middle School. |
In September, October, and November East Middle's IMPACT committee has been involved with developing, planning, and coordinating the following events:
RED RIBBON WEEK: Spirit week to raise awareness of HOW WE CAN STICK TOGETHER TO SAY NO TO DRUGS!
DRUG FREE BANNER PLEDGE: Students signed a pledge to stay Drug Free during lunches and received a Fruit Roll Up, for being a good "roll" model, and a red ribbon bracelet.
CANNED FOOD DRIVE: Students brought in cans to see Mr. P's head get shaved!
CAPS FOR CANCER: East Middle School raised $121.00 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation by paying fifty cents to wear hats during Spirit Week.
PINWHEELS FOR PEACE: East Middle School Advisory Students made pinwheels promoting unity and respecting differences. We put the pinwheels on display during World Peace Day.
SELLING "BOO GRAMS": Students were able to pay fifty cents to give a gift to a student or staff member of their choice. The students received a bag of pretzels with a note from their friend. All proceeds went to IMPACT committee.
STUFFED ANIMAL DRIVE: We took old stuffed animals to donate to children who have been in the hospital.
OTHER EVENTS TO LOOK FOR IN JANUARY and February:
Winter Wishes: Will now be sold on Friday, January 16th during lunch shifts. The cookies will be $1 per bag.
February 13th is our Valentine's Day Dance at 7 PM. IMPACT students would like donations for our food room. Disco Balls and Lava Lamps would be tremendously cool as we are having a 70's Theme. If parents would like to donate baked goods, that would also be very helpful. If you have any questions about these items, please call Ms. Weinberg at 410-751-3181.
OTHER EVENTS TO LOOK FOR IN THE FUTURE:
