East Middle school, was built in 1936 as Westminster High School.
The art deco designs on the front of the school are made of carved
limestone and contrast with the deep rose brick of the building.
ART DECO is the term used to describe the architectural
and decorative style prominent from 1925-1940 in Europe and the
United States. It is characterized through the use of basic geometric
shapes and designs. East Middle School is proud to be one of the
few buildings in Carroll County which so clearly exhibits this style.
