The Ebb Valley School Mascot Committee is pleased to announce our new mascot. The mascot selected is shown below.

NEWS FLASH - The Manchester Volunteer Firemen and Ladies Auxiliary donated $2000 to the Carroll County Education Foundation to purchase an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) for placement at Ebb Valley Elementary.  Special thanks to Steve Krouse from Cranberry Station for his efforts in bringing the need for AED's to the forefront.  Most importantly, we want to thank the Manchester Volunteer Firemen and Ladies Auxiliary for donating funds to purchase AED's for Manchester Elementary, Ebb Valley, and North Carroll Middle School.

 

The Ebb Valley PTAC met on Tuesday, April 29.  As part of our meeting activities, the following committees or work groups gave reports.

Construction - Mr. Mitchell reported that construction progress is moving along on schedule. Vinyl tile floors are being installed in the cafeteria and gym. Ceiling tiles are being installed in all areas. Finishing touches are being added to the PA system, Security System and Media Center as well as the exterior of the school grounds.  The substantial completion date has been pushed back and  tentatively set for May 5th.  We anticipate being able to move our offices some time at the end of May after we have received the Use and Occupancy permit. 

Open House/Staffing - Open House tours are tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 7th from 9:00 AM until 12:00 Noon and again on June 20th from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM.

Hiring - Some classroom and special area teachers have been notified of their hiring and we expect more to be notified in the coming weeks. Staffing will not be completed until we get a better handle on enrollments and the Board of Education Budget is finalized on May 14th.

Daycare Selection Committee - The daycare committee screened and interviewed and selected Celebree as the before & after school daycare provider. After materials are received from Celebree the lease agreement will be submitted to the Board of Education for final approval.

Mascot Committee - The Mascot Committee and the PTAC selected the Eagle as our new mascot. The colors selected were Silver and Blue. The committee worked with an artist and chose the Eagle mascot at the top of this page to represent Ebb Valley.

Playground Committee - The playground proposal process is underway. The proposal was sent to the Board of Education for approval at their April 22nd Meeting. Materials will take approximately six weeks to arrive and installation will occur once materials have arrived. 

PTA Formation Committee - The PTA Organizational Meeting was held on March 11th and the PTA was formed with guidance from the Maryland PTA. PTA membership is set at $4.00 for the rest of this school year. We have over well over 50 members at this time. Officers were included: Donna Oursler, President; Jackie Heilbron, 1st Vice President; Amber Riley, 2nd Vice President; Karen Binks, Treasurer; and Kim Bolander, Secretary. Next year there may be an increase in PTA membership dues to cover insurance and auditing costs.

Sign Committee - The Sign Committee met on April 23rd at the North Carroll Middle School to discuss any estimates obtained thus far for the sign and fundraising possibilities.

Student and Staff Welcome - The Student Welcome Committee met and suggested a "Picnic with the Principal" as a way to kick off the new school year.  We will have an Open House for Parents and Students from 5:00 until 5:45 PM on Friday, August 22nd.  Children will get to see their classroom and tour the school. At the conclusion of the Open House, we will have an old fashioned backyard barbecue featuring hot dogs on the grill.  More details will be published as we get closer to the date.
