COSMETOLOGY   (Clinic # 410 751-3672)

Cosmetology is a 1500 hour program approved by the Maryland Board of Cosmetology. At the completion of the program, students must pass a written and practical examination to become licensed Cosmetologists.

A candidate must satisfactorily complete qualifying exam.

Cosmetology is approved as a Completer Program (a graduation requirement option).

Cosmetology may grant 10 student service learning hours in level one and 30 student service learning hours in level two.

  • Human Anatomy and Physiology taken as a prerequisite or concurrently with first semester of Cosmetology

  • Learn hair care services such as hair cutting, styling, permanent waves, hair coloring, and chemical hair relaxation

  • Perform facial treatments and manicures

  • Apply basic concepts of anatomy and histology

  • Learn proper practices needed to develop professional client relations

CULINARY ARTS

 

 Culinary Arts prepares students for challenging careers in the food service industry. Instruction is provided in sanitation, quantity food production, pastry/baking, menu planning, and purchasing.  Students will lunch in the Cafe' and Grill and cater outside events in their pursuit of learning all things culinary,  Second year students have the option to selection Baking/Pastry or Professional Cooking.

Culinary Arts is approved as a Completer Program (a graduation requirement option).

Culinary Arts may grant 30 student service learning hours per level.

PRINT PRODUCTION

Print Production is approved as a Completer Program (a graduation requirement option). Print Production may grant 10 student service learning hours.

Print Production affords students the opportunity to begin their education for careers in graphics design. Topics include photography, computer illustration, and page layout. Select students will be able to pursue animation and web design.

VIDEO PRODUCTION

Students in Video Production develop the entry-level skills needed to record news and live events and to film videos and television broadcasts. Students will have the opportunity to work in a real studio environment with the Community Media Center.

FLORAL DESIGN

Students in the Floral Design program cut and place flowers in floral arrangements like bouquets, wreaths, and baskets. They develop the skills needed to work in retail stores and learn to deal with customers by phone or in person.

Creativity is essential to this field and an artist's eye and a knack for combining colors are necessary.

Floral Design is approved as a Completer Program (a graduation requirement option).
