Media
The Media Center at Cranberry Station has over 16,000 items including: Books, Magazines and Journals, Videos and DVD's, Kits, Books on Cassette/CD, Reference Materials.
The media center has 12 computers available for student and staff use. All computers have access to OPAC (our patron catalog), the Internet, online subscription databases, and various software programs.
Kindergarten students visit the media center for two 30 minute classes each week. All other students have media for 30 minutes each week. In addition to checking out books, students are engaged in lessons from the media curriculum. Areas covered include literature, locating and collecting data and information, organizing and interpreting data and information, and ethical sharing of information.
The number of books students may borrow from the media center is based on their grade level.
Kindergarteners: 1 book
1st, 2nd, & 3rd graders: 2 books
4th & 5th graders: 3 books
K, 1st, and 2nd grades should return media books after 1 week. 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders may keep their books for two weeks.
There are no overdue fines for returning materials late. However, children may not borrow any new library books until the overdue items are returned.
Accidents do happen… but LOST OR DAMAGED ITEMS MUST BE PAID FOR before children may borrow more books.
All students visit the media center as a class on the same day each week. However, children are encouraged to return their books as soon as they have read them… even if it is not their media day. We hope all the students will visit often!
