My experience at JHU/APL has been rewarding and enjoyable. Part of my job is to produce mathematical models for chemical process conversions and compare them to unrelated domains. I have learned a lot about professionalism and office dynamics.

Having an internship my senior year has been a great opportunity because I've acquired so many life skills that relate to business settings and professionalism. I'm also learning to manage my time wisely which will help me greatly in life after highschool. Overall, I would highly recommend an internship because it teaches so much that you can't learn in a classroom and it truly is an eye opener to the business world.

Learning about the professional work force while in high school has given me an advantage over other students, and confidence for starting college. Working behind the scenes in a law office has been insightful to the processes necessary before going to court.

Not only does having an internship give students a head start in the world of work and a "one up" on other college applicants, but it also makes things more clear. As teenagers we have a hard enough time making up our minds and the lessons that we learn at our internships help to clear up the future a little more in terms of what our decisions will be.

My internship is great! I feel like I am truly getting a feel for not only the professional world, but the journalism world as well. My internship makes me feel like a responsible student. I feel like teachers respect me a little more because I took the extra initiative to start my professional resume. I definitely recommend an internship to anyone.

"I think that the parents and businesses in the community should know that the internship program is very valuable. It has opened a large window of opportunities for everyone who participated in it and has helped us all eliminate or validate our career choices for the future" ~ Lauren

"The beginning was much more challenging when I was trying to learn all of the material. Once I found a routine I was fine and a steady stream of work was always available. My work never became too easy either since every "action" is defferent and I feel like I am still learning something new every day."

"Parents should know that the internship program is a huge bonus. Having an internship puts their kids a large step ahead of anyone else in high school that has not held an internship. The community and new businesses should know that the internship program is a great learning experience for high-schoolers and that it helps ease students into the world of employment far ahead of time."

"I think this internship was probably the best thing I could have done because not only was the money good, but the possibilities it opened up for me later on in my life are great. The security clearance I have can be incredibly marketable and can help me start various careers if I go down that path."

"This internship has been a great experience. I overcame my fear of horses by stepping out and accomplishing the task of an equine intern at Days End Farm Horse Rescue. It was really difficult at first but over time I gathered advice from professionals around me and acclimated to life around the barn. I've been able to see the inner workings of a horse barn and now I owing one is something I wish to do."
