Application Process for an Internship:
- Student attends the Information Meeting held in December of the Junior year.
- Student makes an appointment with their Guidance Counselor to review their Career Major/Completer course work to see if they qualify with 3 or more credits.
- If 3 or more credits in a Career Major/Completer have been met, student receives an Application Form from the Guidance Counselor and is completed by the Guidance Counselor.
- Application Form is then turned into the Coordinator.
- Once eligibility is determined by Counselor and Coordinator, student must attend the Mandatory Meeting in late March early April of their Junior year and receive the Application Packet.
- Application Packet is completed and turned into the Coordinator- early May.
- Students will be notified that they have met all qualifications for the program.
- Student attends final meeting in May to review the summer’s process.
May-August:
- Student and Coordinator work together in finding an Internship Placement.
- If a student has a connection, contact information is given to Coordinator.
- Students ARE NOT to arrange their own internship! Please include the coordinator in the process.
- If the Coordinator has the connection, introductions and interviews will take place.
- Students must interview for the internship position. The interview will determine if placement occurs.
- Coordinator completes site visits, liability/safety paperwork and secures a Certificate of Insurance.
- Once paperwork and interview are complete, the student is ready for the internship.
First week of school:
- Student Interns must attend a week long professional orientation and will begin the internship after completion.
During the internship:
- Students receive a combined assessment grade. The Coordinator provides academic assignments and the site will professionally assess your skills.
- There will be monthly mandatory meetings at school with the coordinator to review updates.
- Yes, a student can get fired.
- Yes, you can get pulled out of the internship if your grades decline.
- Yes, the coordinator does site visits and checks up on each intern.
