Alcohol Prevention Program at Liberty High School
Release Date: 10/21/2008 9:38:48 AM
A program entitled "Every 15 Minutes" will be presented to students at Liberty High School on Thursday, October 23, and Friday, October 24, 2008.
This program is designed to impact both students and entire families. The program begins early Thursday morning with the Grim Reaper walking through the school claiming "victims" of a drinking and driving related crash. A mock "crash" scene will begin at approximately 1:00 p.m. and will continue to show the end results at the hospital and the courthouse.
Twenty pre-selected student "victims" are secluded on an overnight retreat allowing them, their families, and friends to try and experience what it would be like if they were really gone. At the retreat they hear firsthand, from several speakers, their experiences when someone uses alcohol and makes a bad decision. The next morning, at 8:00, the students return to their school and join the rest of the junior and senior classes for a mock "memorial service".
