Davis Receives SmartCXO Award for Innovative Approach as Chief Information Officer for CCPS

Gary Davis, Chief Information Officer for Carroll County Public Schools, was recently selected to receive a SmartCXO Award by SmartCEO magazine. Davis was selected in the CIO/CTO Category in the Baltimore Metropolitan Area for his contributions to the executive management team of Carroll County Public Schools.
The SmartCXO awards applaud local executives in both the private and public sectors for work in their organization’s initiatives by supplying fresh ideas, making tough decisions, and building strong talent within their organizations. Davis will be recognized in the March 2012 edition of Baltimore SmartCEO magazine and at a reception with over 300 local business and public sector leaders in Baltimore.
Davis was recognized for his innovative approach to his tenure as CIO at Carroll County Public Schools that has transformed the technology infrastructure of the school system into an efficient and cost-effective operation while moving forward with new technical capabilities and services that enable numerous instructional and administrative initiatives. The Technology Services Department has evolved into a true enterprise operation with a highly competent and customer service oriented staff.
In addition, both Davis and the school system are recognized around the state for vision and leadership in cooperative efforts with all levels of government, education, and private industry to advance the goals of public education and overall community benefits. Davis’s vision of improving the Carroll County Public Schools network resulted in his idea to expand that vision into the Carroll County Public Network, which provides benefits to the entire community, including both the public and private sector. As Chairman of the CCPN since its creation in 2004, Davis has provided leadership that is recognized nationally as a model for cooperative government efforts and efficiencies.
