Carroll Students to Compete at State FIRST Lego League Tournament

Five teams of Carroll County students in grades 4-8 will compete at the FIRST Lego League Tournament over the weekend of January 28, 2012, at UMBC. A total of 72 slots were available for over 250 teams statewide. Teams had to place in the top third of their respective qualifying events to advance to the tournament. The participating teams include:
The Silver Souls and the PIE-RATS, middle school students sponsored by the Partnership and Inspiration of Engineering Education and Entrepreneurship (PIE3), a qualifier hosted by the Liberty Robo-Lions, a high school FIRST Robotics Team
Linton Springs Elementary School Thinkin’ Robot Stars
The Robot Alliance from Carrolltowne Elementary School
Westminster Montessori, which qualified at the Roar of the Robots at Carroll Community College, a qualifier hosted by the Liberty Robo-Lions.
The students have been working hard since September to prepare for the tournament. Members of the Robo-Lions will serve as volunteers and ambassadors for FIRST Robotics at the tournament.
