Board of Education Seeks Input on Core Statement, Values and Beliefs
Release Date: 10/26/2011 11:01:53 AM
The Board of Education of Carroll County is seeking input from the community on proposed revisions to Board Policy AD – Mission Statement, Core Values, and Vision Statement.
During their September 28, 2011 work session, a consensus of Board members agreed to discuss changing the traditional mission and vision statement policy to those of core statements, values, and beliefs. The proposed policy revisions are based in large part on the work of the Board’s Community Advisory Council and are also the result of many months of gathering stakeholder input and considerable discussion and revision. However, the proposed revisions are still a work in progress.
This proposal reflects the comments and input of Board members, but will return to principals, students, and other stakeholders for additional input prior to being recommended to the Board for adoption. The intended use of this document is to provide a framework by which all other policies of the Board are formed or revised. It will also serve as a guiding document for school mottos, visions, or belief statements and decisions regarding the education of students.
The proposed revised policy is posted on the CCPS website under Featured News. Comments and suggestions may be submitted online at http://feedback.carrollk12.org. Please note that this address is for comments only and not for questions. No reply will be provided. Please be aware that the media and Carroll County citizens have requested copies of emails sent to this feedback folder. Under the Public Information Act, emails sent to the Board are public information and will be disclosed.
This item will be returned to the Board for action at its meeting on Wednesday, December 14, at 5:00 p.m.
