The ceremony will be capped by the presentation of two special awards – The Rita Board Dowd Award for Outstanding School Administrator and Carroll County Teacher of the Year. The Rita Board Dowd award will be presented to two school administrators, one principal and one assistant principal, to recognize exceptional educational leadership in serving Carroll County Public Schools and its students. The Carroll County Teacher of the Year Award will be presented to a teacher who will then represent Carroll County teachers in the Maryland Teacher of the Year Program, and possibly the National Teacher of the Year Program. Working in collaboration with the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, this year’s finalists for Teacher of the Year were selected by the Chamber of Commerce as winners of the Chamber’s Outstanding Teacher Awards.
