Feedback on Implementation of Altered School Start and End Times
Release Date: 3/30/2011 9:22:07 AM
On March 23, 2011, the Board of Education received a Transportation Efficiency Proposal recommending altering school start and end times beginning with the 2012 - 2013 school year, which is the school year starting August 2012. If adopted as a future budget reduction by the Board, the implementation of the plan will save the school system 1.2 million dollars in FY 13 and eliminate the need for reductions in other areas, including staff. It is anticipated that the school system will have to reduce its budget for the next several fiscal years.
The Transportation Efficiency Study and the Proposed Bell Schedule for schools are available for review on the homepage of the CCPS website. Comments and suggestions may be submitted by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by U.S. mail to the Superintendent’s Office, Carroll County Public Schools, 125 North Court Street, Westminster, MD 21157.
The recommendation for this future budget reduction is scheduled to come before the Board for approval at their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 11.
Please note, if this recommendation is approved by the Board, the altered school start and end times will not begin with the next school year. The first year of the altered schedule will be the 2012 – 2013 school year.
