Here’s what’s new on CETV – Channel 21:

Education Matters – Superintendent of Schools Stephen Guthrie discusses his proposed 2011-2012 school system budget and details how the community can give their input to the proposal. He also congratulates Oklahoma Road Middle School on their Maryland Blue Ribbon School honor, as well as CCPS employee Patricia Levroney for receiving the Maryland State Education Association’s Minority Recognition Awards Program in the category of Education.

Focus on Education: Student Edition - Century and North Carroll High Schools – In two programs hosted by Century High School student Allie Stern, viewers get a chance to meet two of Carroll County’s student athletes. In the first program, North Carroll senior Hannah Langsdale talks about how she juggles volleyball, tennis, National Honor Society, her school work, and much more. In the second program of this series, Century senior Brandon Soderstrom gives us a glimpse at his serious dedication to not only football and basketball, but to the Finance Academy as well.

CETV Newsmakers: On the Positive Side – In this episode, join William Winchester Elementary School as they put their math skills to use in a fun way at the Food Lion Family Math Night. Learn about Carroll County Public Schools’ newest sports offering with the students who were bowling with the Corollary Athletics Program, and go back in time with Oklahoma Road Middle School 7th graders as they present all they have learned about Medieval times. Finally, CCPS employee Patricia Levroney helps show history in action with a video montage of the civil rights walk she took over the winter break.

2011 Maryland Blue Ribbon School – Oklahoma Road Middle School principal Cathy Hood discusses her school’s recent distinction as a Maryland Blue Ribbon School.   

Elementary Math – Elementary Math Supervisor Donn Hicks explains the new math curriculum and why “you have to know math.”

Crossroads Middle School Program – Assistant Principal Jen Branner and social studies teacher Gayle Sands explain the Crossroads Middle School Program and why it is so beneficial to the students.

High School Scheduling – Director of High Schools Sherri Bream gives details of the high school scheduling process and tells students and parents what they need to keep in mind when doing their schedules.
