Biomedical Sciences Program Receives Certification
Release Date: 1/26/2011 9:33:41 AM
The Carroll County Career and Technology Center has been designated as a Project Lead The Way Certified School for Biomedical Sciences. This certification ensures the implementation of a high quality program and provides an opportunity for students in the program to receive college credit for their high school Project Lead The Way courses.
The three-step certification process involves a self-assessment, site visit, and final certification report. Schools must meet standards in a variety of areas, including professional development of teachers and counselors, implementation of curriculum using required equipment and software, and the formation of a Partnership Team that supports the program. Other quality indicators include program implementation, student assessment, administrative support, post secondary education, and communication and outreach. During a site visit to the Career and Technology Center, a team of evaluators was impressed with all aspects of the program, especially the engagement and energy of the students, staff, and community.
Biomedical Sciences teacher Brendan Gallagher and students will give a presentation on the program at the Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, February 9, 2011.
