Winters Mill Student Places First at County Speech Contest

Ali Globus, a senior at Winters Mill High School, placed first in Carroll County with her patriotic speech in the Voice of Democracy Speech Contest hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
This contest, which has been the VFW’s premier scholarship program for over 60 years, invites over 50,000 high school students to compete each year by writing and recording a broadcast script on an annual patriotic theme. This year’s theme was “Does My Generation Have a Role in America’s Future?” Prizes and scholarships for winning applicants are distributed at the local, district, state, and national level.
Ali’s speech placed first at the local level and will now be advancing to the district level competition.
