Westminster Elementary Students Place 2nd in Holiday Card Contest

Release Date: 12/17/2010 11:35:26 AM

Fourth grade students at Westminster Elementary School won second place in the student holiday card contest sponsored by the Outlet Shoppes at Gettysburg.
The contest offered elementary, middle, and high school art classes a unique opportunity to showcase their artwork. Each participating school was given a $200 gift card to purchase art supplies and a piece of plywood.
Every fourth grade student at Westminster Elementary School participated by drawing, painting, and embellishing the holiday card. The card, which was designed by art teacher Donna Gross, used a pine tree design that was taught to the students when they were in third grade. The students voted to include the school mascot, Ping the Panda, in the design.
As the second place winner, Westminster Elementary School received a $300 prize, and each fourth grade student received a certificate of appreciation from the Outlets. The student holiday cards will be on display at the Outlet Shoppes at Gettysburg through January 2, 2011.
