Release Date: 11/17/2010 8:49:28 AM

The Carroll County Public Schools High School Inclusion Field Day will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at South Carroll High School. Students from the county’s Learning for Independence (LFI) programs will come together for a day of fun and physical activity. In addition, each school will send student helpers to run various stations and act as buddies.

The goal of the activity is to improve achievement for all students and to develop in students a strong value system, positive behavior, ethical decision-making, and an appreciation for individual differences. Students in the LFI program will have the opportunity to interact socially and physically with general education students in noncompetitive cooperative activities. General education students will be provided with leadership opportunities as peer assistants and team leaders. The event also will provide LFI students with an interschool field trip that will emphasize appropriate social and emotional behaviors through physical activity.
