Francis Scott Key High School to Dedicate Walk of State Champions

Francis Scott Key High School will hold the dedication of the newly created Walk of State Champions in conjunction with the Homecoming game on Friday, October 22, 2010. The walk features signs representing the sports that have earned state championships during the school’s first 50 years.
     
A social gathering with light refreshments will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. This event will welcome back any players, managers, coaches, and administrators affiliated with any of the school’s state championship teams. A brief ceremony and the unveiling of the signs featuring the state championship teams will be held at 6:15 p.m. at the football entrance to the stadium. The festivities will continue at 6:45 p.m. when the FSK Eagles will take on the Liberty Lions for the Homecoming football game. The championship teams will be publicly recognized over the PA system. Regular admission rates apply to the game.
 
The following state championship teams will be recognized on the Walk of State Champions:
  • Baseball -1984
  • Boys Soccer - 1986, 1987
  • Field Hockey - 1977, 1978,1986,1989,1993
  • Boys Cross Country - 1990, 2006
  • Boys Track - 1978,1987,1990,1991,1993,1996,1997
  • Girls Track - 1987, 1989
  • Volleyball - 1977, 1978, 1980,1986, 1996,2009
  • Girls Basketball - 1997.
The Walk of State Champions project was developed from the school’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2008-2009. The signs on the Walk are historical in that they reflect past accomplishments by the school’s athletes, but they are also motivational as there will be a blank sign awaiting future successes.
