Partners for Success Center to Offer Effective Partnership Workshop

The Partners for Success Center of Carroll County Public Schools will sponsor an Effective Partnership Workshop on Thursday, September 30, 2010, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Carroll Springs School in Westminster. This free workshop offers positive advocacy strategies to enhance IEP team negotiations and is designed for parents, school staff, guidance professionals, and agency personnel.
Participants will learn how to better advocate for a child’s success and feel more confident about their knowledge and skills. A short make-and-take session will be offered to create a binder for special education papers. The workshop will address the three steps to effective partnership:
1. Effective communication
2. Effective organization and preparation
3. Effective participation in the IEP process.
Each step will be discussed and practical tips and techniques to better facilitate understanding and mastery of advocacy skills will be given.
