Release Date: 7/29/2010 2:55:05 PM
On Saturday, August 7, 2010, the Liberty High School Robotics Team, the Robo-Lions, will be competing in the Fourth Annual Battle O’ Baltimore, a “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology” (FIRST) Robotics Competition, at the Boys’ Latin School of Maryland. This will be Liberty’s fifth year participating in the competition.
This event, sponsored by a coalition of teams known as the Baltimore Area Alliance, The Community College of Baltimore County, NASA, and the TIME Center, brings together thirty robotics teams from high schools in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and various other states to compete in a tournament of 3-on-3 “robot soccer.” This game, more commonly referred to as Breakaway, gives high school students a chance to proudly exhibit their engineering skills, team spirit, and enthusiasm for math, science, and engineering. The soccer tournament will determine an event champion, and subsequent awards will be distributed at the end of the event. There will also be informational sessions throughout the day for anyone interested in robotics at any level.
