Parents As Teachers Program Receives National Recognition

Carroll County’s Parents As Teachers initiative has received the National Association of Counties (NACo) 2010 Achievement Award for innovative programming and collaboration. The Achievement Award Program is a non-competitive awards program that recognizes innovative county government programs.
Parents As Teachers is an internationally recognized early childhood parent education and family support program serving families from birth to four years. The program helps to ensure that all children will learn, grow, and develop to their full potential so that they will be successful in school. Components of this free program include home visits, developmental screening, group meetings, and resource networking.
Parents As Teachers is coordinated by the Carroll County Public Schools Judy Center Partnership, with leadership and funding provided by the Carroll County Local Management Board. Other partners include the Carroll County Public Library, the Carroll County Family Center, Catholic Charities Head Start, and the Carroll County Youth Service Bureau.
