Liberty Students Are “Safer in the Shade”
Release Date: 6/9/2010 10:59:58 AM
Students and staff at Liberty High School participated in the Safer in the Shade project sponsored by The Partnership for a Healthier Carroll County. Seven large white pine trees were planted near baseball fields on the school grounds on May 27, 2010, as part of this annual skin cancer awareness initiative.
Safer in the Shade provides skin cancer education and information in coordination with shade tree plantings to reinforce a sun-safe message. Educators from the Carroll County Health Department and Carroll Hospital Center visited the school in April to conduct skin damage analysis and give a skin safety presentation to students at the school.
