Special Education Citizen’s Advisory Council Presents Awards
Release Date: 5/25/2010 1:05:19 PM
The Carroll County Public School System’s Special Education Citizen’s Advisory Council (SECAC) recently presented its second annual awards and recognitions. The awards program was created to give parents an opportunity to recognize and pay tribute to individuals in the school system and community who are doing outstanding things for children with disabilities.
Each year, SECAC seeks nominations for teachers, speech pathologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, other service providers, administrators, family members, community members, and students who have truly gone to extraordinary efforts to contribute in a compassionate and caring way to the growth, happiness, and general well-being of children.
The awards recognition ceremony was held on April 20, 2010, at the Carroll County Career and Technology Center. The event was attended by the nominees and recipients, as well as their administrators and supervisors. Donna Riley, Branch Chief of Special Education from the Maryland State Department of Education, was the guest speaker. Personalized letters for each recipient were read during the awards presentation.
