Board of Education to Recognize Employees at Ceremony

Carroll County Teacher of the Year and Outstanding School Administrators to Be Announced
The Board of Education of Carroll County will hold an employee recognition ceremony on Thursday, April 29, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. The ceremony will be held in Room 007 of the Board of Education offices, located at 125 North Court Street in Westminster.
During the ceremony, the Board will recognize approximately eighty employees for outstanding accomplishments. These accomplishments include awards in the employee’s area or field, recognition by a professional organization, and authorship of articles published in a state or national journal. Employees also receive recognition for giving presentations at state or national conferences and workshops and for service on state and national committees.
A highlight of the evening will be the announcement of two special awards – the 2010 Carroll County Teacher of the Year and the Rita Board Dowd Award for Outstanding Carroll County School Administrators. The Carroll County Teacher of the Year will be chosen from among the teachers who received the Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Teacher Awards. The Carroll County Teacher of the Year will be Carroll County’s representative for the Maryland Teacher of the Year Program. The Rita Board Dowd Award for Outstanding Carroll County School Administrators will be presented to one principal and one assistant principal. The goal of the award is to recognize exceptional educational leadership in serving Carroll County Public Schools and its students.
