Liz Welliver, Student Member of the Board of Education of Carroll County, has been selected by the Maryland Association of Student Councils as one of two candidates for consideration as the 2010-2011 Student Member of the State Board of Education.
Student delegates from across the state gathered over the weekend of March 26-28, 2010 at Thomas Stone High School in Charles County. They participated in workshops about the role of the student member, listened to candidate speeches, asked questions of each candidate, and voted for their nominees.
The election resulted in the selection of Welliver and Guyan Sampson from Frederick County. The names of both students will be submitted to Governor Martin O’Malley, who will select one of them to serve as the next Student Member of the State Board of Education.
