This is the third year for the Carroll County Debate League. The purpose of this organization is to provide debate experience in a competitive atmosphere in which a student may test his/her training and skills in analyzing issues, researching evidence, and preparing and presenting persuasive arguments.
During previous tournaments, students debated global poverty reduction over environmental protection, failed nations as a greater threat than stable nations, President Obama’s troop increase in Afghanistan, and political lobbying does more harm than good. Thirty-six teams from the high schools have participated in 109 rounds with 30 parents and teachers evaluating their efforts.
