Release Date: 11/30/2009 11:53:42 AM
The Cosmetology class at the Carroll County Career and Technology Center will hold its annual Holiday Hair Drive on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The class is looking for individuals who are willing to donate their hair to Locks of Love, a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under the age of 18 who are suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.
The donated hair is used to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers. Donations will also be accepted for Pantene Pro-V Beautiful Lengths, which makes wigs for women who suffer from hair loss due to cancer treatments.
The minimum length is 8” for Pantene Pro-V- Beautiful Lengths or 10” for Locks of Love. Hair that has been colored or permed is acceptable, but hair that has been bleached is not acceptable. Please call 410-751-3672 to make an appointment or if you have any questions.
