Release Date: 11/17/2009 12:02:39 PM

Planning is well underway for this year’s sessions of the Carroll County Summer Enrichment Program. A single sheet summary of the program will be sent out in early November to all students from the office of Mr. Steve Johnson, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction. Full program booklets are being printed and should arrive at elementary and middle schools by early December.

All families who participated in the Summer Enrichment Program last year should automatically receive a 2010 packet. All other interested students should check with their home schools after Thanksgiving break. If booklets cannot be obtained at the home school, you may request one by emailing Mr. Dick Thompson, Summer Enrichment Program Coordinator, at rwthomp@k12.carr.org. Session dates are:

Session 1- Friendship Valley Elementary School - June 28-July 9, 2010

Session 2- Linton Springs Elementary School - July 13-23, 2010.

Most classes are for students completing grades K-5, although there are a few courses that go above those levels. Topics have a wide variety of content and interests, including music, art, math, reading, drama, history, and geography. Two new courses will be offered this year:

Sportsmania (grades 1 and 2) – Learn about several popular sports (their backgrounds and basics) and get a chance to practice your skills.

A Classic Adventure (grades 3 and 4) – An introduction to several pieces of classic children’s literature, including The Wizard of Oz.

If you have youngsters who have previously enjoyed the Summer Enrichment Program, please consider attending this coming summer. If your child has not attended in the past, please request a booklet from your home school and become a part of an enriching, rewarding, and fun-filled experience.
