Board of Education Seeks Input on Voting Rights for Student Representative

The Board of Education of Carroll County is seeking input on proposed changes to Board Policy JIBB – Student Representative on Board of Education.
The proposed changes grant the Student Representative a counted, recorded vote on certain items before the Board. Details of the policy revisions providing partial student voting rights are posted at:
The proposed revisions to the policy generally state that the vote will reflect an informed student opinion and will be counted towards the determination of action on Board policy, curriculum, publications, and other student-related items. The vote will be recorded and not counted towards decisions regarding the capital and operating budgets, bids and contracts, school closings and openings, school boundary adjustments, and student disciplinary matters. The student representative will continue to be prohibited from voting on personnel matters.
