Local FFA Chapters Place in Eastern States Exposition

Members of the Francis Scott Key High School FFA chapter represented Maryland in two career development events at the Eastern States Exposition held in Springfield, Massachusetts. Andrea Keefer, Brianne Hevner, and Trevor Hoff competed in the Poultry Evaluation event, during which they evaluated interior and exterior eggs, broken out eggs, poultry parts identification, ready to cook turkeys, and live production hens. Andrea Keefer placed 6th overall in this contest, which recognized the top nine individuals. The team placed 4th in the Eastern region. Jason Talbert placed 1st in the Eastern Region in the Safe Tractor and Equipment Operators contest. The event required drivers to maneuver tractors and navigate a two-wheel and four-wheel obstacle course. They also drove a skid steer loader and a tractor with a loader through an obstacle course carrying materials safely through the course.
The Manchester Valley High School FFA Livestock Judging team finished in 6th place at the Eastern States Exposition. The team consisted of Cody Craumer (placed 13th individually), Samantha Ruby (placed 21st individually), Mark Leister (placed 23rd, individually).
The Liberty High School FFA Agronomy team finished in 4th place overall. The team members were Michael Simpson, who placed 10th individually, Tori Barr, who placed 11th individually, and Victoria Robinson, who placed 13th individually.
