CETV Newsmakers: On the Positive Side
Some big things are happening in the last episode of Newsmakers for this school year. First, join in the year-long celebration of 50 years at Francis Scott Key High School. Students, staff and alumni participated in games, events and parties to help commemorate 50 great years. Next, help Eldersburg Elementary School set sail with their year-long art project. Art Club students designed, built and launched a handmade pirate ship. Catch up with Carroll County’s 2009 Teacher of the Year, Mr. Scott D’Orazio, an instrumental music teacher at East Middle. He explains how his teachers inspired him and how he hopes to do the same for his students. Winters Mill High School’s Fine Arts Department won the prestigious John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts School of Distinction award. The RSVP segment showcases just a glimpse of their award-winning programs. Instructionally Speaking with Steve Johnson
This month the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction reviews the year with a few graduating seniors. In the first segment of the show, Mr. Johnson talks with Gabrielle Green and Katie Walsh. They discuss their CCPS school careers, what they liked and didn’t like about school, and their plans for the future. In the second segment, Mr. Johnson interviews the 2008-2009 Student Member on the Board of Education, Lauren Hickey. Lauren discusses what her year on the Board was like, as well as the excitement of being a senior. You can see his program every day on CETV – Channel 21 at 8:30 a.m., as well as Monday and Friday evenings at 8 p.m.
