Release Date: 4/15/2009 10:39:38 AM
The Carroll County Public School System will celebrate Public School Volunteer Week from April 19 to 25, 2009.
During the school year, thousands of registered volunteers donate their time and expertise to support the school system. Countless educational endeavors are possible because volunteers play a critical role in efforts aimed at enriching the learning experiences of all students. The positive impact of the volunteers' connections with Carroll County Public Schools is recognized and appreciated during this special week and throughout the school year.
Parent, family and community involvement is a significant factor in the success of schools. Volunteers assist teachers and staff with the day-to-day activities involved in providing a balanced education for students and are an important part of a team that works together to ensure that all students succeed. During the 2007-08 school year, over 16,000 registered volunteers spent more than 131,000 hours serving Carroll County Public Schools as chaperones, mentors, after-school tutors, club leaders, booster club members, PTA/PTO members, guest speakers, classroom helpers, and in many other ways.
