Conversations with Mummies at New Windsor Middle School

Dr. Ronn Wade, Director of the Anatomical Services Division of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, will visit Lisa Lardieri Macurak’s sixth grade students at New Windsor Middle School on Monday, February 23, 2009.
The students first learned of Dr. Wade when they were learning about the cultural practice of mummification in their ancient Egypt unit. Students viewed the National Geographic film Mr. Mummy, which chronicles the first fully documented modern attempt at Egyptian-style mummification.
During his visit, Dr. Wade will share the findings of this fascinating story with the sixth graders from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. He then will offer a second presentation and discussion for other interested students and teachers from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
