Liberty Robotics Team Receives NASA Grant
Release Date: 11/25/2008 2:10:24 PM
The Liberty High School Robotics Team, the Robo-Lions, has won its third grant in as many years from NASA to participate in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition.
The $6,000 grant was competitive and was intended for teams with experience who are ready to encourage others to join them in building and competing robot designs. It is part of the team’s goal to help other Carroll County teams join them in learning about robot design, entrepreneurship, computer graphics, project management, system integration, programming, gracious professionalism, and many other aspects of FIRST.
The Robo-Lions invite all Carroll County students interested in learning more about robotics and FIRST to join them as they build their new robot in January and February, and for the competitions that follow. The grant has enabled the team to compete twice this season, first in Washington, DC on February 26-28, 2009, and then in Annapolis on March 19-21, 2009.
