A hair-a-thon for Locks of Love will be held at West Middle School on Monday, November 10, 2008, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Students will have the opportunity to donate 10 inches of hair and have it styled. The hair will then be sent to Locks of Love where it will be made into wigs for children.
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. The prostheses the organization provides help to restore the children’s self-esteem and confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.
The hair-a-thon at West Middle School is being coordinated by Lyndsay Pyles-Rogers and is an effort to create students’ awareness of their ability to help others.
