Release Date: 10/24/2008 2:30:20 PM
Planning is well underway for this year’s sessions of the Carroll County Summer Enrichment Program. Program booklets for the 2009 sessions are being printed and should arrive in all elementary and middle schools by Thanksgiving.
All families who participated in the Summer Enrichment Program last year will automatically receive a 2009 booklet. All other interested students should check with their home schools in late November. If books cannot be obtained at the home school, you may request one by e-mailing Mr. Dick Thompson, Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Session dates are:
Session 1: Friendship Valley Elementary School, June 29 – July 10, 2009
no class on Friday, July 3)
Session 2: Linton Springs Elementary School, July 14 – 24, 2009.
Most classes are for students completing grades K-5, although there are a few courses that go above those levels. Topics have a wide variety of content and interests, including music, art, math, reading, drama, history, and geography. Three new courses will be offered this year:
"Espanol” – An Introduction to Spanish, for students who have completed grades 2-3
“Environ-Detectives” – A follow-up class to the popular “Wonders of Wetlands” course at Camp Hashawha, for students who have completed grades 5-6
“Science” – for students who have completed Kindergarten.
If you have youngsters who have previously enjoyed the Summer Enrichment Program, please consider attending this summer. If your child has not attended in the past, please request a booklet from your home school and become a part of an enriching, rewarding, and fun-filled experience.
